Accommodation
Description
Nestled in the charming village of South Milton sits Pear Tree Cottage, a cosy and inviting cottage providing the perfect haven for couples seeking a romantic getaway. Carefully and tastefully renovated to a high standard, to retain its unique original features, this stone-built, character cottage offers a quiet and peaceful space where you can relax and unwind, with many beautiful, long sandy beaches to explore nearby.
Inside
Step up into the property into a warm and welcoming living area, with a cosy woodburner that sets the mood for memorable evenings together snuggled by the fire, watching TV, reading or planning your next day's adventures.
The bespoke galley kitchen is well equipped to prepare delicious meals and enjoy the simple pleasures of good home cooking, with a separate utility room just across the passage at the back of the property.
From the living area, climb the stairs to the bathroom and bedroom on the first floor. The bathroom with bathtub and shower above, washbasin and w.c. and cosy bedroom with comfortable double bed, walk-in wardrobe, pine furniture, and stable door leading onto a lovely south-facing balcony - the perfect spot to sit in the morning sunshine and enjoy your first cup of coffee, with wonderful open views across the surrounding countryside and down to the village.
Please note, because it is an older style property, the doors upstairs are slightly lower than normal.
Outside
Across the pathway in front of the cottage is the enclosed garden, laid to lawn and flowering shrubs, with a close view of the church below and fields beyond. A garden bench and two table and seating areas provide plenty of opportunity to sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy al fresco meals at any time of the day.
Whether you're seeking a quiet, relaxing weekend getaway or a longer, more leisurely escape, Pear Tree Cottage is the perfect choice to unwind, explore and discover all the many attractions of this very beautiful area.

The Neighbourhood
Pear Tree Cottage is one of seven cottages built in 1834 at the end of the Georgian period by the Prideaux family, wealthy landowners who owned land and several farms in and around South Milton.
Nestled between rolling hills and scenic coastline, the village offers a peaceful rural atmosphere with easy access to the beautiful landscapes of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The property is just a mile away from wonderful South Milton Sands with its long beautiful sandy beach, great for swimming. It is also very close to the pretty village of Thurlestone with its 18 hole golf course, sub-post office store, 4 star Hotel and Village Inn.
All the local beaches offer fantastic opportunities for swimming and other water sports, particularly surfing at Bantham and South Milton Sands. Also on your doorstep is the South West Coast Path giving easy access to endless walks along the coastline, over the cliffs to the village of Hope Cove to the south and Bantham to the north.
Kingsbridge is the nearest town, two and a half miles away and is ideal for shopping, with two separate supermarkets and an interesting variety of independent shops. The popular seaside town of Salcombe also offers great shopping, a bustling harbour with lots to see and various ferries, boating and sailing activities.
For longer days out, Dartmouth, Totnes and Dartmoor offer further variety and a chance to discover more of the beautiful South Hams.
Getting around
Local buses run between Kingsbridge, Hope Cove, Malborough, and Salcombe.

Pear Tree Cottage is a wonderful place to stay

Pear Tree Cottage is a wonderful place to stay. We visited in the summer but would love to return during different seasons, especially when it’s cool enough to light the wood burner. It’s a beautiful little cottage and very comfortable too.

Great location. Beautiful cottage that has been renovated with a lot of patience and love for the building. Very special place, 'in the middle of nowhere', a real home away from home. High quality, luxury (at least for our standards) home. Pricey but worth it. Surroundings (villages, cities, beaches, hilly landscape) great to drivewalk around in for a couple of days. Less then 10 minutes to the nearest beach.

I loved that place - Great view with the swallows (or swifts?) flying around the church. So quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend.

Pear Cottage is a delightful rustic cottage set in a beautiful location with stunning views. The cottage was perfect for our 2 day stay in Devon. The actual cottage was lovely and suited us for our short stay.

The location is very remote so you will need to use your car to get around. Once we had conquered the narrow roads and very tight bends into the village and parked up on the steep lane leading to the cottage all was well.

Really lovely place to relax in. There is absolutely nothing I could fault with the cottage and would love to stay again. Driving on country roads in Devon was a whole new experience, so if you are a townie like me then I would recommend you look them up before you arrive and practice reversing round a corner so it's not a surprise!
